Allegorical group with faun, glazed earthenware, 19th centur - Lot 148

Allegorical group with faun, glazed earthenware, 19th century Sculpted group in molded earthenware with ivory glaze, representing an allegorical scene of neoclassical inspiration: a draped young woman leans against a pedestal surmounted by a faun bust, while two putti surround her and present her with flowers. The faun, recognizable by his pointed ears and smiling expression, is reminiscent of the bacchic and pastoral imagination. The composition, with its supple drapery and expressive modeling, is in keeping with the Italian decorative tradition of the 19th century, marked by a taste for mythological subjects and reinterpretations of Antiquity. Produced for interior decoration, imitating the look of marble. Fine age-related craquelure; no apparent restorations. Height: 48 cm; width: 35 cm; weight: approx. 5 kg.
