Brass Africanist sculpture, Congo, mid-20ᵉ century Solid brass sculpture depicting a nude female figure of slender proportions, in an Africanist aesthetic inspired by the forms of sub-Saharan African statuary as interpreted in the decorative art of the XXᵉ century, characterized by a stylized treatment of the body, simplified volumes and a schematized face, the arms forming two open arches around the head structuring the composition in a modernist spirit close to the late Art Deco current, with no apparent signature, probably made in the Congo around the middle of the XXᵉ century, resting on a rectangular base in wenge wood. Details: origin Congo (Central Africa); period mid-20ᵉ century; material solid brass; base wenge wood; total height 43 cm; weight 1,850 g; condition good overall condition with patina of use consistent with age.
