Pierre-Jules Mêne (1810-1879) - La Brebis et son Agneau, bronze signed and dedicated, period cast circa 1855-1865 Brown patina bronze depicting a standing ewe watching over her suckling lamb, a composition typical of Pierre-Jules Mêne's animal production, with precise modeling and naturalistic treatment of the coat, hooves and ground, signed on the base "P.J. MÊNE" and bearing a dedication engraved in the bronze "à son ami Bzvj, P.J. Mêne" (to his friend Bzvj, P.J. Mêne), absence of a founder's mark consistent with castings from the artist's workshop before 1870, model listed in the catalog raisonné by Poletti Richarme (2007).
