Spanish school of the XVIIᵉ century - Christ bearing the Cross with Saint Veronica Large-format oil on canvas depicting Christ collapsed under the weight of the cross, crowned with thorns and surrounded by soldiers and female figures, St. Veronica presenting her veil on the right alongside the Virgin and holy women, dense and expressive composition in the Spanish Baroque tradition, palette dominated by reds, greens and earth tones, perceptible influence of the Sevillian school of the XVIIᵉ century, canvas made up of two sewn strips and later lined and remounted on a later stretcher.
